Activities
Challis Truly is a Wilderness Gateway with road, trailhead and airplane access to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, the largest wilderness in the lower 48 states. The “Frank,” created in 1980, covers approximately 2.2 million acres. The Middle Fork of the Salmon River, the “crown jewel of America’s rivers,” traverses nearly 100 miles through this pristine wilderness.
Access trailheads for hikes through lush meadows strewn with carpets of multicolored wildflowers via the Twin Peaks Road west of Challis. For a true wilderness experience, the Jordan Creek Road in the Yankee Fork area leads to trailheads for extended hikes and pack trips into the Middle Fork country.
The vastness of the Frank will overwhelm you on a backcountry scenic flight. Dashing backcountry pilots will land you and your gear at remote airstrips for adventures into the wilderness.
The wilderness: solitude… adventure… peace… rugged beauty… you must experience it for yourself!
